Image description
Airplanes have gone a long way from what they used to be. The advancements are remarkable and the technology behind them is quite impressive. As advanced as we seem to be, our techniques are sometimes sloppy and we sacrifice power for safety, as I have tried to depict, man has always tried to push his limits and always dreamed of flying ... even if he had to strap two jet planes on his back. The sky isn't a limit anymore. The strings on the puppet represent the physical limits of man and machine and as you can well see the strings are starting to break one by one. We have conquered the sky.
Description of how this image was created
The picture was done entirely with 3Ds MAX. The modeling is pretty basic, the illumination was done using 4 omni lights and the jet trails were done by combining a series of hemispheric gizmos with volumetric fog with 1500 particles ( consisting of planes with a noise material and a matching noise opacity map to give it that fluffy look ) The background was done by combining two gradient ramp materials both modified with noise effects to create the stars and the clouds.

1.   21-12-2007 A wonderfully original depiction of a cliched concept, I love it. My only crit would be that to me the strings don't look string like enough. Having said that I have no idea how that would be improved upon.
