Image description
Compound #29, June 5, 2056 Dear Mom and Dad, This is our brand new Hornet. Tom keeps telling me that it is a B-55h Home Flyer Ornithopter, but I call it a hornet. It makes such a nice humming noise when it lifts off! It’s really fantastic. Tom now flies every day to the Factory and back to Compound #29 in no time at all, instead of all those hours lost on the hydrobus. Well, thanks to Atomic Home Power we have got a lot of freedom now. I know that you do not really approve of Tom’s job at the Factory, Dad, but he is making a lot of money and we can afford the hornet and a nice house in the Compound, and still do some savings. I hope I can have my own hornet next year. We asked Cathy to take the photograph. Do you remember Cathy? The little daughter of our neighbours next door, the Williamsons? She is a sweet girl really, although a bit wild, and I do not always approve of the way they bring her up, but what can I say? Well, let’s hope for the best. By the way, do you know how Maggie Williamson calls Compound #29? The Picasso Resort! Because of the cubes! At first I did not understand and she had to explain it to me. She is always making those weird jokes. I hear Tom coming home. Give a big hug to Granny. Next time I shall write her a looong letter. Promise! Keep well and a big kiss from Tom and me. Love, Jessica
Description of how this image was created
I used different items from previous rounds: The cubes - transformed into homes - from the very first Tina Chep competition; the ornithopter from The Mother Hive. For these, Moray and Silo2 were used. Poser provided the figures (passed to POV-Ray with Poseray); PaintShopPro was used for the image_maps. The fast clouds macro by Zeger Knaepen was used for the sky, together with LightSysIV. Most of the render time was used up by the radiosity (2-pass).

1.   21-12-2007 Ahh, i hope our future houses dont look too much like this! Good texturing and I like the modelling, only comment is that it might have been nice to see some other machines (flying or otherwise) either on the ground or in mid air.
