Xmas in economic distress

Originally, this scene wasn't meant to be so sparse... But the lack of time, and getting my stubborn mind around the spline math to create the light pipe proved too much of a hurdle. So, this image is an ode to the economic times. Just wanted to be present, and convey my best wishes to all for a prosperous 2010!

Description of how this image was created
Well, I got obsessed with wanting to simulate the light pipes in a realistic way. More or less, I got the effect going. I made a small C program to take the spline coefficients from the kPovModeler (from the sphere sweep), and calculate the positions of the light-sources at intervals. Loads and loads of testing, trying to get the lamps inside the tube, but none gave a satisfying enough result. I rather like the reflections on the wall/window border. Finally, I located the lamps just before the tube. The rest is simple modeling. John

But my system cannot support more than 3 lights, otherwise I would have tried it, just to put up something beautiful to the eye.
