The hard way towards the far target...
Description of how this image was created
Terrain is a tiled heightfield created in Geomorph. Grass texture was created using Rune S. Johansen's "grasstex" include file. Trees and bushes were taken from the web and retextured. Dragonfly was modelled in Hexagon, then boned in DAZ Studio 3, exported to POV-Ray mesh using Poseray. Dragonfly and terrain were rendered separately. Dragonfly wings were also rendered separately and motion blur for them was created from the animation image sequence using ImageMagick. Then all four images (terrain, dragonfly, dragonfly wings and motion blur for them) were combined using GIMP.

The transition between the ground and the sky is too sharp and does not look right, otherwise good work.

For one I would like to see more focal blur with the horizon really blurred. Great idea. SMcA

At first sight, i thought it was a picture blurred. If you build it from scratch it is a shame to focal blur it so much.
The lighting of the bird does not fit the rest of the scene lighting

[ThomdeG] One feels the velocity of the flight. Well done. Maybe the feeling of distance could be increased a bit more by a more obvious (atmospheric) perspective towards the horizon.

I see a lot of room for technical improvement here: According to the foreground we're above the tree tops, but according the horizon we're not (making the horizon appear "cut off"); the motion blur doesn't work except in front of the sky; there are artifacts at the insect's feet; the insect appears to be made of plastic; for some reason the insect doesn't appear to fit into the remaining image (focal blur issue? lighting mismatch?); the clouds don't look convincing (near the horizon they should "flatten out"). - C.Lipka
