Image description

According to the Yag-Yaths (sub-dominant anthropomorph species, NE Continent, Carina IV, Delta Tau Sector) the sun is the breath of the Life Breather, exhaling during the day, inhaling during the night. Little Breathers living in the shallow lakes of the continent are venerated by the Yag-Yaths.

Description of how this image was created

This image is about myth, the way in which we try to explain the unknown and incomprehensible. Myths are a product of our intelligence; therefore I postulate that they are universal and not just restricted to the human species. Wherever in the universe intelligent life appears, myths will accompany them.

Apollo Maximus for the Yag-Yath, and Daz Millenium (Eastern) Dragon for the Life Breathers, were modelled in Poser 7. Dryad (http://dryad.stanford.edu/index.php) was used for the alien trees and bushes. POV-Ray code by Eriban was used for making ripples and wakes in the water and is kindly acknowledged. Silo 2 was used for modelling miscellaneous objects. Geocontrol was used for the different landscape elements. PaintShopPro 8, and IC by LILYsoft (http://www.lilysoft.org/IC/ic_index.htm), were used for extensive work on image maps.

1.   31-08-2009 You have a fantastic imagination Thomas and put it to good use! The only thing I feel that could have a little more work done is the rock texture. Nice camera angle.
2.   30-08-2009 I think all aspects are worth exactly the same score. Nothing striking, but no weakness either. It is well-balanced.
3.   29-08-2009 Great idea, story & image but sadly a little weak with lighting. A shot against the main light source is difficult, but I would have liked to see some stronger contrast here. E.g. a painter would have exaggerated the outlines caused by the back light of the sun. The pose and the stick of that Yag-Yath are very good. -Ive
4.   23-08-2009 Hey, so you *can* do optimistic shots after all! Looks good overall. That Yag-Yath's skin looks weird though, with that reddish patch among the green.
5.   17-08-2009 Very unworldly
