Image description
Imagine.
They build a telescope, new technology, incredibly powerful, and discover a huge clock hanging in space. Gravity is pouring out from the clock's centre, apparently anchoring it in position. Maybe the gravity also powers it.
But that's only the first clock, they find more. It seems the clocks are everywhere in the universe, and they're in perfect time with each other. -
Or not! This image appealed very strongly to me though I guess space-scenes aren't totally original. But please no one tell me gravity can't go outwards - it can in POV-Ray, I definitely looked it up in the help file.
Description of how this image was created
The background is a sky-sphere with black/blue bozo overlaid with a sparse leopard pattern in white. The pointy stars are exactly that, pointy stars in CSG. The clock is also nearly all plain CSG (the worm drive in the centre is f_helix1 - see POV-Ray include file Functions.inc).
The galaxy is thank you to Chris Colefax for sharing his excellent and well documented Galaxy.inc file which can be found at http://www.geocities.com/ccolefax/galaxy.html

Space scenes are good, this image works well.
Only possible flaw in the image is the "rock?" weights seem a little smooth - but who am I to say what material they are? (perhaps cast lead?)
I do like the textures of the rest of the clock - it looks great - brand new - but great.

original concept and well done.

Nice work. Very good cast-iron texture. A little bit too much ambient on all the clock's materials (only shows on some displays though, depending on calibrarion); the shadows of the hands could be a bit softer - and I'd expect the cast-iron cage to cast *some* shadows. Reflectivity of the glass sphere seems to be >1.

Nice dynamic mechanism.
