Image description
I stood on the baking arid plain and looked up at the towering forms that littered it, long-abandoned relics with a long-forgotten purpose. The only sounds were the distant cries of startled birds, wheeling in the sky hundreds of metres above me. In the hazy distance I could see the verdant mountains that surrounded the plain, fertile walls corralling the barren field like a negative oasis...
Description of how this image was created
The chessmen are meshes, based on lathe objects and weathered using my own macros. The mountains are a single isosurface, using a ridged_mf() combined with a sloped square step and some granite for added texture. Trees on the mountains are simple meshes placed with trace(). The floor is a single small rocky mesh, randomly scaled and copied 10,000 times. The birds are simple CSG and the clouds a turbulent bozo, two layers of ground fog and a partridge in a pear tree. :-)

You should have put one or two pieces out of the fog, or tuned the contrast as it misses a bit of depth calibration-wise. The camera angle however gives the scene a lot of depth.

Beautiful image and for me, totally believable that the pieces are there and real. You do feel like you're walking amongst them. Top rated for artistic.

Pretty shot. The fog seems a bit unnatural though, being either too strong in the foreground or too weak near the mountains

Simple looking image but not bad.
