Image description
A once sprawling metropolis is reduced to ruins, and wilderness is reborn, for Nature moves quickly to reclaim Her territory when left unhindered by the efforts of humanity...
Description of how this image was created
To create the focal point of this piece I decapitated the Poser 6 Jessi model and used ZBrush 3 to weather the head mesh a bit. I created the remaining stone elements using Wings3d.

The vines were all created with the nifty Ivy Generator program, and the ground is a simple plane with some ground fog added for atmospheric haze. I exported all the meshes as OBJ and converted them to POV Mesh2 format using PoseRay.

The stone material is composed of proceduralized layered textures created with the POV SDL and a tiled image map.

Note: I had originally posted a version in HD resolution (1920 x 1080 px) but the 350 KB size limit resulted in a lot of lossy JPEG compression artifacts. So, I re-rendered this slightly smaller version and ended up with much less JPEG noise.

1.   25-02-2008 Nice concept - maybe some ruined columns or buildings would emphasise the aspect of lost city. I don't understand what all the toroidal shapes are that the ivy is twined around.
