Image description
From the beginning of time people have continuously evolved. Today, scientist discover the wheel. Tomorrow we have millions of type of vehicles rolling around in different shapes and sizes. I believe that the evolution of the wheel represents the way all things evolve. Unlock the first element of the chain and then pursue it. And lets face it, there is no fun in driving a car with no wheels. In my image I tried to combine different vehicles into one and to illustrate the different scientifically achievements that the discovering of the wheel lead to. Starting from an old wooden wagon to a rusty antique car and of course finishing with the modern day shiny sports car. I chose to leave the background blank to represent the ambiguity of time and on the "steps of time" i tried to hide the future. As you can see, in my vision, we will end up in smoke! :)
Description of how this image was created
Most of the components forming the vehicle, like all the wooden components, are edited, bent, re-triangulated, smoothened boxes with a noise modifier. However the car's roof is made out of NURBS curves with a surface modifier. The door and the back of the sports car are made out of regular lines, with a surface and a shell modifier and then turned into editable polys for adding details and for smoothening . For the smoke I used a combination of spherical and rectangular gizmos with volumetric fog and 4 ambient omni lights with volumetric light to give it the blue halo effect. The texturing is done component by component and some materials have been created with 3Ds max (for the sports car, for the rims, for the antique car's body). The rest are slightly modified textures(glossiness and bump mapping). Put it all together and this is pretty much what you get. Critics and comentary are well appreciated.

Oh, very nice - seemingly simple, and to the point. I like the concept.

I like your idea a lot and in some ways it concurs with the concept of working up from the fundamentals that I tried to convey. The modelling and technical side of things is also very nice. My only comment is that IMHO the rear section of the car appears a litle too disconnected, however a very minor point.
