Image description
The night illumination at airports has associations which were once glamourous and exciting but now perhaps have become prosaic by familiarity. For some people the scene has some of the romance which air travel had in the past.
Description of how this image was created
The scene has 27 light sources. All the modelling is CSG in Povray. The 747 is as accurate as can be made from the small three-view drawings I have been able to find. The clouds are a photo which has been turned upside down to resemble the light from a distant city on the underside of clouds.

1.   29-12-2009 3x3x3 point-light sources may be enough but with shadow blur. Otherwise, the hard edges are too distracting. A rule of thumb tells that using 256 samples is likely to work most of the time because the final pixels have a depth complexity of 8 bits. So next time, try 6x6x6 or 7x7x7 lights and the shadowing should look smooth. Roughly 10 times slower to render? Who cares, just wait. Artistic is one of your strength, and I usually feel it in your entries, but not as much in this one. Though you added again a special effect of yours with these reversed clouds. It "dramatically" saves the whole thing! - DrNo
2.   26-12-2009 This reminds me of Edward Hopper [SMcA]
3.   22-12-2009 Nice concept... and the scene conveys it, but the lighting is a bit too harsh: some area light for soft shadows perhaps will make it less confusing.
4.   21-12-2009 a good idea, but the whole scene seems a bit plastic and glossy to me. Especially the ground floor.
5.   18-12-2009 The sky/clouds look good, Like the kind of sky I would refuse to get onto a plane with. The modelling on the plane is very good for CSG unfortunately I think the textures mainly on the building and ground let the scene down. It is as if you forgot to add a texture to the building.
6.   04-12-2009 I like the scene by itself - illumination can be quite complex and challenging in this setting. The thing that mostly disturbs me is the ground. It calls too much attention by its perfection - looks too much like marble.
