Image description
This image was not originally intended for this challenge but as it turned out fairly well, I am curious to see how it will be doing. This is not its final stage. The monolith is courtesy to Stephen :-)
Description of how this image was created
Fairly straightforward construction using a mosaic of height_fields as basis. Trees were generated by POV-Tree; the cityscape is a macro by Mike Williams; the pylons are a macro from unknown. This is Cathy's World #10.

Nice one, but I can't help to notice the non- parallel shadows.

This knocks me over. The monolith gives it an extra dimension. Two small criticisms: I don't think the monolith should have bevelled edges and the sun's light should be parallel. SMcA

sky is fantastic
Your concept is fine, because you allied large scale but reasonable number of polygons.
Very nice !
One of the best of that round !

I'm quite ambivalent about the tech side of this shot: The sky looks intriguing; however, you got the scene illumination horribly wrong: Obviously the sun has already "drowned" in diffuse scattering, so it should not cast any shadows (I mistook them for artifacts for quite a while); the reflections on the water don't seem right either.
