Image description

Modern dragons are hungry machines. They have been designed for getting hold of even more petroleum to feed themselves, no matter the distress left behind.

The first quest was for the secret of how to get fire out of wood. The purpose of the second one? How to get artificial power out of fossilized woods.

These dragons took control of man who has become a selfish, rapacious monster. Hasn't the black gold rush turned man into a vicious slayer for whom murder means human casualty?

However, endless war leads to suicide. Sooner or later, the mirror reflection will reveal the truth. Humankind won't have the choice but to face it.

Description of how this image was created

Fortunately there was plenty of room for original interpretation because the "Dragons" topic was not that inspiring at first, but then I thought about this mind-blowing idea readable at two picture levels. Also another way of saying "Holy wood", with a similar hard-liner message.

One can notice the strong presence of the four classic elements. The air fleet is made of flying "dragons" (fighters and hot-air balloon) and the ground fleet contains a firing tank and a water tank.

The base map comes from Google satellite imaging with additional texturing on it. The water and forest are there to reinforce the concept, and also to tone the red component down with some green and blue.

A modified Eiffel tower has been used for the oil rigs. The quite convincing motion blur has been simulated using anisotropic focal blur.

1.   31-08-2009 A little hard to spot, then if you took it further, it would take away the surprise. A hard 'fine line' to accomplish.
2.   31-08-2009 Gorgeous!
3.   29-08-2009 The main problem that I do have with all of your images: you are trying so hard to explain *everything* that I do actually loose interest in the image itself and get quite bored. In a sense I feel - as a viewer - not taken serious by you. Instead of feeding my imagination and vision you are restricting it to exactly one - your explanation. Umberto Eco once did say: A story is a machine to generate meanings. And he meant meanings within the mind of the reader. I believe the same is true for images that can be considered as art. -Ive
4.   17-08-2009 A dificult concept but forced a bit.
