Image description
The basic idea was about how humans have harnessed nature and turned it to there own ends. This picture is meant to take to the extreme the idea of humans using every bit of capacity nature has spare. Thus I guess my answer as to mans place in nature is as some sort of oppressive ruler!
Description of how this image was created
Not as well as I would have liked due to running out of time with the deadline. Sadly you cannot really see the beauty of the ant model which was modelled entirely in pov and all the work that went in there (In fact the majority of all the work on the image and the reason I ended up running so close the deadline). I will probably post a better version on the pov site once I have finished. Apologies for the slightly half finished nature however I hope you like the picture anyway!

Nice work on the ants. I like the light coming from behind. Good work.

I must say that the sun flare in this updated version of your shot looks pretty much photoshopped to me, for which I'll "down" your technical score a good deal. Aside from that, there's a number of issues: Ants carry things in their mandibles, not on their back; your ant anatomics is a bit... um... interesting (what's that queer think beneath their breast??); for a shot against sunlight the colors are too washed-out, less ambient would have done good; the metal is both too bright and too reflective for real nuts & bolts; the bolt's thread shows a strong moiree effect; and the nuts & bolts' edges would need some bevelling.
Anyway, I guess your main problem was spending too much time on the ants, so I'm looking forward to see what you can do with better-planned time.
