Image description
"Il n'y a de nouveau que ce qui est oublié" - everything old is new again... Technical progress as well as evolution is a cyclic process, and the progress in time measurment has made a full circle and returning to it's origin - using a Sun as a primary instrument. Even if it is a Sun of another World...
Description of how this image was created
All objects except globe were modelled in Rhino and textured in POV-Ray. Globe is a simple sphere with texture created in GIMP. I used "Ennis" HDR from "http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Data/HighResProbes/" for lightning. Also 2-pass radiosity was used (otherwise it took to long to render).

1.   24-02-2009 I keep looking at this image because it intrigues me. I love the 'unproportional' scale between objects. That wolf picture frame looks so real. Good job.
2.   23-02-2009 Interesting and original concept.
3.   23-02-2009 Lighting looks good. Looks like Blade Runner like wall treatment in the back there,
4.   18-02-2009 (The world needs more good free HDR light probes...) Your lighting needs more work: The background image has more depth than your actual scene. Good marble texture, and beautiful glass ball. I don't get the concept though: Current official definition of time is based on radiation of caesium atoms, not distant stars.
5.   17-02-2009 I liked the concept and the image. I couldn't see any technical artefacts, except perhaps there should have been a little more focal blur to blend the foreground perfectly into the hdri image. What I didn't like was the image in the glass sphere. I'm afraid I hated the green and white mountains because they looked too fake.
6.   15-02-2009 Not "everything old is new again", it says "everything that is new has only been forgotten". Nice picture, good realism (all but the sphere content). Topic-wise, we miss the plural here.
