Image description
For sale: Antique hex set, with no apparent use. Craftsmanship is superb. White pieces are made of clear crystal, while teh black pieces are probably onyx (to be confirmed). Each piece has a textile base to avoid scratching. The board consists of a thin glass surface, with ceramic tiles colouring the cells. A metallic mesh marks the fields. Origin is suspecto to be oriental. This is truely a unique opportunity...
Description of how this image was created
kpovmodeler for the chess set. POV-ray for rendering. No other special tools used. (GIMP for the name and a lint-free cloth to polish the pieces and the board before taking the photo).

It's one of those boards that you would like to add to a collection, (if people collect them, that is).
Nice image.

Nice clean image. I'm a little confused as to the 'dirtiness' of the shadows for the white pieces. Also wondering how the bishops would move on such a board.

Seen the hex chess concept before (If only I could remember where... ;)) I recommend investing in better lighting equipment to get softer shadows, allowing potential buyers to better see the beauty of the pieces. Materials might be wrongly identified. Shadows indicate that clear pieces are obviously not made from single crystals but glued (use "merge" instead of "union"). (Hint: Experiment with caustics on this shot; it will also make a good scene to try out soft shadows)
