Image description
The hours passed slowly underwater, the dark seabed momentarily lit up by the passing submarine. From within it was common to go days without seeing anything and to grow restless with the monotone dark blue.
It was this monotony that made the change exciting. Even the fleeting glimpse of a shoal of fish or a shadowy shark passing over. Once or twice in the 20,000 leagues more exotic species were found among the desolate deep. Bright colours, iridencence and movement filled the small porthole window that faced into the seemingly infinite watery expanse outside of the small cocoon of humanity that is the Nautilus.
Upon finally making it back above water those who had been aboard the Nautilus would retell of how it was those moments of colour and movement that kept them from going totally mad.
Description of how this image was created
The general techniques are not particularly complicated for the most part, lots of CSG and a little bit of wings 3D. The only part that posed real troubles was setting up the underwater look and the spotlight. I am still not entirely happy with either but they are a lot better than the other attempts I took. I feel I will probably continue to play around with this until I can get the depth a bit better.
My main regret with this picture is that I didn't spend long enough on putting my ideas into action (Sadly university work got in the way a little).

I actually like the texture for the portal frame. The fish seems out of place for something I imaging should be the deep. I.E. maybe something more along the lines of those freaky fish with a light hanging from their forheads.

Technically still learning... well, a bit better than that; the rust, for example, looks quite good; the edges of the bright metal parts would have needed beveling; more work on the lighting would have done good. On the nontechnical parts I actually really like it, much to my own surprise 'cause I'm normally more in for fancy technical achievements.

Quite difficult to guess the topic from the picture, but the way of putting it is unexpected. I wonder why there is so much aliasing.
