Image description
This book is one of my very best souvenir as a child reader. The nautilus was for me the ultimate technology able to sink boats.
Description of how this image was created
The shell of the nautilus, is NURBS based, with a special care on UV mapping. The TITANIC model comes from a web site. The volume light to give the light behaviour, has increased the rendering time to a 23 hours, which makes difficult to fine tune the scene, but it is the only way i found to have a not too unrealistic water (just with a stupid blue fog)

1.   23-10-2008 Asside from the obvious, the titanic had a black bottom. Nice job on the Nautilus. Good job on the whole.
2.   20-10-2008 I appreciate the fact that you have built a Nautilus model close to the "original" as shown in the 19th century illustrations and described in the novel.
3.   20-10-2008 I love the composition. I really wish that you had managed to texture the boat. Some good texturing and decaying would have left me more convinced of the deep sea discovery feel.
4.   15-10-2008 This one is more on-topic than "Chtulu". I better like it overall for all aspects. The Titanic misses some texture on the white body. The lighting is good and adds a lot of depth.
5.   14-10-2008 It's a pity we don't see more of the UV mapping on the nautilus. Lighting doesn't look convincing despite all your efforts: At the depth of 3 km, there should be no light at all except for that from the nautilus, and the spotlight beam should show in the water media. For being the alleged cause of the disaster, the Nautilus is depicted too much in a pure observer's position. How is the Nautilus propelled? We don't see a propeller. We also see no trace of damage to the Titanic.
