Image description
This method of bridge construction was the usual in country areas of Australia until, probably 1950. Then steel and concrete became more common as suitable trees beame less available. The timber bridge has a nostalgic appeal for me and I have set this one in a typical landscape.
Description of how this image was created
This image is mostly CSG. The weathered timber is isosurfaces. The terrain is height fields. The clouds are a photo. The landscape beyond the bridge was rendered seperately ( 1hr 24m ) and used as an image map in the final render ( 7 min ).

Comments by members when rating this image
1.   30-06-2008 Nice composition, but the bushes in the foreground are very flat and lifeless, The image also seems very grainy somehow.
2.   25-06-2008 Good composition, and the creek worked out well.
3.   21-06-2008 Marvellous and it’s not the Coathanger.
4.   18-06-2008 The viewpoint taken gives a nice depth to the image. However, the colors/textures are a bit flat imo. On the other hand, that gives the idea of a painting more than a photograph.
5.   18-06-2008 It is a good scene but some texture doesn't worth your good ideas (the plan on the fore view per example)
